Common Corrective Actions
We have compiled a list of common corrective actions that have come up in recent assessments. To learn more about closing our your corrective actions, complete the Corrective Actions Short Course on the QCPP website.
CPR Certificates
CPR and First Aid certificates need to be renewed with differing regularity.

CPR Certification must be completed annually to ensure your training meets current standards and your certificate is up to date.

First Aid Certificates are valid for 3 years, but CPR is not included in this.
Cold Chain Certificates
Ensure that your pharmacy is certifying your dispensary refrigerators every 2 years at minimum.

The following entities can certify dispensary refrigerators:
  • The Cold Chain Testing Centre
  • Some refrigerator manufacturers
  • An Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) licensed refrigerator technician
During a pharmacy’s assessment week, the cold chain certificate must be current to be deemed compliant.

Temperature recording
Ensure that the maximum and minimum temperatures of your pharmacy’s dispensary refrigerator/s are recorded twice daily to maintain compliance in your pharmacy.

If using a digital data logger, the following evidence must be provided to demonstrate that the appropriate measures are in place for monitoring the temperature of the dispensary refrigerator/s:
  • Records of twice daily minimum and maximum (am & pm) temperature monitoring for at least the previous 4 weeks prior to the date of submission.
  • A written explanation of the cascading system of notifying relevant staff members when temperatures are out of range
  • Documented evidence that, minimum and maximum temperature monitoring is occurring at least twice daily (am & pm).

Thank you for coming to see us at APP!

It was great for us to hear your feedback on the program and answer questions. The most common questions asked at APP were:

1. What will onsite assessments look like?

If you were part of the program prior to 2020, you will be familiar with onsite assessments. More information on the onsite assessment process will be released as we approach 1 October 2024.

2. What happens with non-conformances and remedial actions?

All Corrective Actions are closed out remotely on the QCPP Customer Portal and the current timeframes will remain the same. In some instances, remedial actions can be closed out during the onsite assessment, however it is not available for all Corrective Actions.

3. Will there be an option to do remote assessments?

Onsite assessments will be the only option for assessments.

4. What version of the Quality Care 2020 Requirements will I be assessed against?

Pharmacies will still be assessed against the Quality Care 2020 Requirements (Version 1.1), based off the AS85000:2017 Quality Care Community Pharmacy Standard.
For more information about onsite assessments, visit the Onsite Assessments Webpage.
