Community pharmacy should project a professional image of a standard that is consistent with the professional services available within the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Appearance Scorecard is designed to assess elements which, if neglected, can detract from the consumer's perception of the quality of service offered by the pharmacy. The QCPP Policy Committee considers the current Pharmacy Appearance Scorecard an important element of the Program. It is human nature to judge on first appearance and so some customers may never give a pharmacy a chance to show excellence in customer service because the appearance has reflected a perception of the service. The corresponding pictures provide Good, Satisfactory and Unsatisfactory examples from the new Pharmacy Appearance Scorecard. These pictures are examples only and you should rely on the accompanying text when determining compliance. The comments have been made by the former Chairman of the QCP Program, Kos Sclavos, and should be used as a guide. The QCPP Policy Committee acknowledges that the process of judging appearance has a degree of subjectivity, and these photos and explanations have been put on the web site to reduce the level of subjectivity.
