The 2000 Review was most notable for the inclusion in the Pharmacy Manual of the Professional Practice Standards (developed by the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia [PSA]) and the Standards for the Sale of Pharmacist Only and Pharmacy Medicines (developed by a consortium from the Universities of Sydney and South Australia). These Standards had been endorsed by the major industry stakeholders and an early decision was taken that, when developed, they should be included in the QCPP. The Standards were reformatted to make them consistent with the style of the QCPP Standards. However, there is still a need to refer to the PSA publications of these Standards, as the PSA publications contain important information and background notes to the Standards, as well as a series of indicators which assist in determining whether the Standards have been met. As a result of this continuing need to refer to the PSA publications, they have been included in the QCPP mandatory materials that all pharmacies must have before accreditation is granted. The PSA publications are available in hard copy from the PSA or from the QCP Division at the Guild. They are also included on the QCPP CD ROM, 2001 edition.
